Coping with Behavior Challenges during COVID-19 – Setting Realistic Expectations for Families

The Centre for Interdisciplinary Research and Collaboration in Autism (CIRCA) at UBC has sponsored five COVID-19 webcasts for parents through ACT-Autism Community Training. This third webcast aims to help parents whose children have limited language skills, making it difficult for them to understand why their usual routines have been totally disrupted by COVID-19. The idea is to provide some simple “tools for your toolbox” to help family members prevent and/or reduce the occurrence of problem behaviours by setting realistic expectations, communicating clearly, and establishing structure and routines to get through the day.
